Michi is an award-winning international LGBTQ+ Indie Artist from Richmond, Virginia.
Raised in a conservative, blue-collar community in the south, Michi came out by breaking out. In 2008 at the age of 20, she won the “Gay Pride Battle of the Bands” contest as a solo artist, earning the headlining performance at the Virginia Gay Pride Festival. Two years later, she would go on to release her first single, “Change,” to much acclaim, earning a position in the soundtrack of a full-length feature film and winning 8th place in a U.S. national songwriting competition. Since deciding to pursue music full-time, Michi’s musical history has been moving forward ever since.
She has since traveled the world, with her miniature rainbow guitar in tow, selling out venues in thirteen countries and counting. This past June, Michi and her band performed for the ninth-consecutive year on the main stage at the U.S. Capital Pride Festival in Washington D.C., in front of a crowd of 250,000. It is on this stage that Michi and her band have opened for numerous international recording artists including Miley Cyrus, DJ Marshmello, Zara Larsson, Carly Rae Jepsen, Meghan Trainor, Alessia Cara, Betty Who, Troye Sivan, Kelly Rowland, Chely Wright & Icona Pop.
"[Michi] took to the guitar at an early age -- and her musical history has been moving forward ever since."
